The American Red Cross Babysitting Basics class helps you prepare for your first babysitting job or improve your skills. Building on the basics of caring for infants and children, age-appropriate activities, and child behavior, this certification is a great start or boost for your babysitting business.
Prepare your child to babysit with confidence in our Babysitter Training class in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The class is taught in-person in a hands-on, interactive format. This course covers the essential skills every young caregiver needs, from infant care to emergency response.
By the end of the workshop, participants receive a certificate of completion in Babysitter Training from The American Red Cross, giving them the knowledge and confidence to care for children responsibly. The course also teaches leadership, business development, safety, behavior management, basic childcare, and first aid. Successful completion earns a printable certificate. The class includes the American Red Cross Babysitting Handbook.

Participants will learn:
- Infant and child care basics: feeding, diapering, swaddling, holding, and handling babies safely.
- CPR and choking first aid for children and infants.
- Emergency response skills and basic first aid, including attending to wounds and burns.
- Safety strategies for home and public environments.
- Creative ways to entertain children and keep them engaged.
